Appendix 4

Curtin Cup Case Judging Criteria Explanation

1.The title of each case isrequired and it must reflect the content well.
2.There should be aspects ofthe business case that are in their own right unique. In other words, do notadopt a known business case or an accounting problem or issue that has alreadybeen well used in industry or academia.
3.Thebusiness case should incorporate issues that are topical, interesting, andrelevant and have widespread impacts across society. For instance, a businesscase that examines sustainability or corruption or misuse of resources couldcurrently be considered as relevant.
4. Attemptto draw out the key business issues in a clear manner. Do not make the businesscase overly complex. More than one business issue can be considered but makesure that the reader understands the implications of each issue.
5.Thisis best shown by way of this example-for instance, there can be tension betweenresource usage by board of directors and their responsibilities to shareholdersand ethical judgements may suggest that on the one hand, that resource usage isjustified but on the other hand, consumption of those resources is notresponsible to those shareholders.
6.Withinyour business case, have sufficient depth to the problem or issue. Don’t coveran area superficially.
7.Coverall pertinent aspects relating to the business case.
8.Drawout the findings and important issues.
9.They should look good!
10.Needs to be perfect socheck all of this.
